Application Engineer


Aquafortus is an emerging technology company working at the forefront of research, development and deployment of high recovery industrial water remediation technologies.  This innovative company has developed a novel continuous, regenerable, non-thermal technology that recovers water and resources for a tiny fraction of the energy of current state-of-the-art technologies. Global industry extracts trillions of litres of water each day using current technology, consuming enormous amounts of energy in the process. Aquafortus is poised to disrupt the industry.

 We are currently seeking an Application Engineer with strengths in chemical process engineering to join our team. We are a fast-moving and growing company and we need a dynamic and innovative person to match.  This is a pivotal role working within the Research and Development team, but also the Commercial team.  They will be reporting both to the Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Operating Officer.

This is primarily a workshop and office-based role, based out of our Albany facility, with the primary responsibility of developing, installing, troubleshooting and monitoring equipment and processes.  As a secondary role, you will be the primary technical resource for the field sales force and, are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Supporting the commercial team as the key technical advisor.  You must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues. As such, this job can be extremely varied

The successful candidate will have working experience in process, chemical or application engineering.

The Application Engineer will collaborate to create new intellectual property for the company, assist in the development of new processes and technologies, and support the team to advance the company's technological and commercial success. 



  1. Implementation of the Company's Research and Development Strategy through the development of specific chemistry, associated processes, and other tangible solutions.
  2. Identification of possible developments not already assigned and, where agreed and authorised, pursue these developments.
  3. Generation of reports and data to support the company's current and future business development activities.
  4. Collaborate with, and support other departments within the company, to advance the, Intellectual Property, construction, deployment and commercialisation of the technology.


  • A University degree in the field of process or chemical engineering
  • Experience in process, application or chemical engineering
  • Experience working with chemical processes
  • Experience with basic laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Experience in developing reports and proposals.
  • An R&D application focus, with a strong commercial acumen
  • Team orientation with the ability to put the good of the team ahead of self- interest when appropriate
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong preparation and presentation of reports
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to work independently to a highly productive level
  • Willingness to travel internationally for extended periods of time
